A.T. Kearney recently published its Global Retail E-Commerce Index (2013), ranking the top 30 countries based on eCommerce market attractiveness.
China was number one. Driven by infrastructure improvements, increased internet access in rural regions, and an increase in wealth, eCommerce in China is expected to explode from $64 billion to $271 billion over the next five years. Japan, the U.S., the U.K. and South Korea ranked two through five, respectively.
Global online retail sales have grown at a 17% CAGR over the past five years, with particularly strong growth in Latin America and Asia Pacific at 27% and 25%, respectively.
