Mexico and Brazil’s Love Affair with Social Media

Latin Americans are voracious consumers of social media and are one of the most active groups across every level of social engagement. Forrester Research recently surveyed online adults in Mexico and Brazil and found 54% of online metropolitan Mexicans and 38% of online metropolitan Brazilians regularly connect with others via social networks on their mobile phones. In fact, this need to connect and engage with others anytime, anywhere is a daily activity for 41% of online metropolitan Mexicans and 11% of online metropolitan Brazilians.

When survey respondents were asked "In a typical week how many hours do you spend on the Internet?" Mexican online users reported 24.7 hours and Brazilian online users reported 23.8 hours.

Overall, Forrester found that online adoption in Brazil and Mexico will reach 57% and 48% respectively by 2016, up from 47% and 38% currently.
